From The Heart

You wrote me a letter

But my response wouldn’t come

You’ve written hundreds of letters

Pages upon pages

I swear I’ve answered

Every. Single. One.

You’ve waited out in the rain

And still, the mail never came

So you think to check your return address

And finally realize…

Mine is the same

Back inside, you find my replies

And choose one from the pile

A smile forms across your face

As you sit to open them awhile

Every note the same, one simple phrase

Only the postmark date has changed

And finally you rest

Knowing the answer to everything, it seems

“Dear you,

Welcome home.

Love,

Me”
